SULFURIC ANODIZING:
TOUGH, VERSATILE, AND BUILT TO LAST
Sulfuric anodizing is the most widely used anodizing process, and for good reason. It gives aluminum a tough, corrosion-resistant finish that can be left clear, dyed in rich color, or built up as hardcoat to handle serious wear. NIA runs sulfuric anodizing on two lines, handling everything from architectural extrusions up to 27.5 feet long to tight-tolerance machined components.
TYPE II — STANDARD SULFURIC ANODIZE
Type II produces a moderate-thickness oxide layer ideal for parts where corrosion resistance, color, and surface quality are the primary goals. Available in Class 1 (clear) and Class 2 (dyed), it’s the most common process for commercial, architectural, and general industrial parts.
- COSMETIC PARTS
- CORROSION PROTECTION
- COLOR ANODIZING
- GENERAL INDUSTRIAL COMPONENTS
TYPE III — HARDCOAT ANODIZE
Type III produces a significantly thicker, harder oxide layer built for parts that face wear, friction, heat, or demanding environments. The resulting surface is harder than mild steel and provides exceptional abrasion and corrosion resistance.
- MACHINED COMPONENTS
- WEAR SURFACES
- PARTS EXPOSED TO HARSH CONDITIONS OR REPEATED FRICTION

LONG-LENGTH CAPACITY —
UP TO 27.5 FEET
For architectural extrusions, railings, solar mounting rails, curtain wall components, and other long-length work, our primary anodizing line accommodates parts up to 27.5 feet in a single run, with no splitting and no inconsistency end to end.
- Architectural extrusions and curtain wall components
- Railings and storefront frames
- Solar panel mounting rails and structural frames
- Long-run industrial parts exceeding standard tank capacity
PRECISION CAPACITY —
TIGHT-TOLERANCE PARTS
For machined components and parts that demand dimensional control, our second line is built for precision. Tank size: 48″ x 42″ x 65″.
- Machined components and small fabricated parts
- Tight-tolerance parts requiring controlled coating thickness
- Small-batch and prototype runs

QUALITY ON EVERY RUN
Every run, regardless of line or process, is tested for coating thickness, gloss, seal, and shade as part of our ISO 9001-certified quality process.

COLORS
A FINISH THAT GOES BEYOND THE SURFACE
NIA specializes in the finishes architects and manufacturers ask for most: clear, black, and bronze. Need something outside these three? We also offer custom color matching to meet specific project or brand requirements.
